Kevin O'Hara

Chairman
Kevin O'Hara is the chief executive officer at Integra Telecom, a provider of fiber-based, business-grade networking, communication and cloud solutions. Kevin has also served as executive chairman for Troppus Software, a provider of customer care and technical support solutions for service providers. Prior to Troppus, Kevin co-founded Level 3 Communications, a leading international provider of fiber-based communication services.

While at Level 3, Kevin served as the company’s chief operating officer from March 1998 to March 2008 and its president from July 2000 to March 2008. During his tenure, Level 3 grew to approximately $4.3 billion in annual revenue. Before co-founding Level 3, Kevin served as president and chief executive officer of Metropolitan Fiber Systems (MFS) Global Network Services, Inc., from 1995 to 1997; as senior vice president of MFS and president of MFS Development Inc., from October 1992 to August 1995; and as a vice president of MFS Telecom, Inc., from 1990 to 1992. Under his leadership at MFS, annual revenue grew to more than $2 billion. Kevin left MFS after it was sold to WorldCom for approximately $14.5 billion.

Kevin currently serves on the boards of Integra Telecom, a privately held communications company based in Portland, Ore., and RigNet, Inc., a communications service provider primarily targeting the oil and gas industry in over 30 countries. Kevin holds a B.S. in electrical engineering from Drexel University and an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago.

Erik Benson

Director
Erik Benson is a managing director with Voyager Capital where he focuses on large, market-changing information technologies and disruptive business models. In addition to Elemental, he is a board member of AboutUs, Act-On Software, Chirpify, Covario, Lighter Capital and Zettics. Erik was previously responsible for Voyager’s investments in aQuantive (acquired by Microsoft), CapitalStream (acquired by HCL Technologies) and Kryptiq (acquired by Surescripts).

Prior to Voyager, Erik was an investor for WRF Capital (Washington Research Foundation) after leadership roles at Mimix Inc., a pioneer in the area of motion capture and animation software for the computer gaming industry. Erik started his career in New York for a predecessor to JPMorgan Chase. Erik received an MBA with honors from Harvard Business School and a BA in economics from Pacific Lutheran University.

Sam Blackman

Chief Executive Officer 
Sam brings extensive management experience and video processing expertise to the Elemental team as chief executive officer. He has grown Elemental into the leading supplier of video solutions for multiscreen content delivery, building innovative products used by leading video content and service providers. Prior to co-founding Elemental in 2006, Sam designed integrated circuit products for Pixelworks.

Before joining Pixelworks in 2000, Sam held engineering positions at Silicon Graphics and Intel Corporation. He is a frequent presenter and source for leading trade and news organizations given his deep industry knowledge. Sam holds an M.B.A. from University of Oregon, an M.S. in electrical engineering from University of California at Berkeley and a B.S. in electrical engineering from Brown University.

Bruce Chizen

Director
As the former CEO of Adobe systems, Inc. Bruce transformed the firm into one of the world’s largest and most diversified software companies in terms of revenue, global reach and breadth of products. As CEO from 2000 to 2007, he tripled Adobe's revenue and turned a company known mainly for its popular design products into one of the most significant forces in the software industry. During his tenure, Adobe consistently ranked near the top of Fortune Magazine's annual report on the “100 Best Companies to Work For.”

In 1987, Bruce joined Claris Corporation, a subsidiary of Apple Computer, Inc., as a founding senior manager and later held positions as vice president of sales and worldwide marketing before becoming vice president and general manager of Claris Clear Choice. Before Claris, he joined Microsoft Corporation in 1983, eventually becoming the company’s eastern region sales director. From 1980 to 1983, he worked in Mattel Electronics’ merchandising group, helping grow it to a $500 million business. Bruce holds a B.S. from Brooklyn College, City University of New York. He currently serves on the boards of Oracle, NDS and Synopsys, Inc. as well as a number of not-for-profit boards.

Scott Hilleboe

Scott Hilleboe is with Revolution Growth, which invests in disruptive consumer technology businesses. Prior to joining Revolution Growth, Scott was a Managing Director with Steamboat Ventures and continues to represent Steamboat's interests in Elemental and EdgeCast Networks. While at Steamboat Scott led investments in Fastclick (IPO and then acquired by ValueClick), Greystripe (acquired by ValueClick), Kyte (acquired by KIT Digital), MerchantCircle (acquired by Reply.com), MediaBank (merged to become MediaOcean), Move Networks (acquired by EchoStar), PopularMedia (acquired by StrongMail) and Quigo (acquired by AOL).

Prior to joining Steamboat Ventures, Scott was an investment professional with Hummer Winblad Venture Partners. He co-lead investments in Jareva Technologies (acquired by Symantec), Yosemite Technologies (acquired by Barracuda Networks), Cenzic, and Voltage Security. Previously, Scott worked at industry leading enterprises IBM, LaSalle Partners and Synopsys, as well as a number of early stage technology companies.

Scott received a BS in Mechanical Engineering, graduating Phi Beta Kappa and magna cum laude from the University of Washington, and has an MBA from Harvard Business School. He was born and raised in Montana, and now is based in Washington D.C.

Sujal Patel

Director
Sujal Patel is a successful technology entrepreneur and executive. He founded Isilon Systems in 2001 with the vision that the rapid proliferation of unstructured, file-based data would necessitate a shift away from traditional storage architectures and toward a new, scale-out paradigm. Today, Patel’s vision has not only become a reality validated by leading research firms IDC and Gartner, but has also created the fastest-growing category within the enterprise storage market.

As CEO, Patel guided Isilon’s (Nasdaq: ISLN) acquisition by EMC in December, 2010 for $2.5 billion. Patel served as the President of EMC’s Isilon Storage Division from the acquisition until November, 2012, driving significant revenue growth, market expansion and organizational scale. He remains a strategic advisor to EMC.

Prior to EMC and Isilon, Patel served in various engineering roles at RealNetworks, Inc., in part as chief architect behind the company's second-generation core media delivery system. Sujal holds a number of patents and pending patents, including those for the Isilon OneFS distributed file system.

Patel is a sought-after speaker and mentor to aspiring entrepreneurs. He is also a board member at Extrahop Networks, a Seattle-based startup that supplies network-based application performance management solutions. Patel graduated from the University of Maryland College Park in 1996 with a degree in computer science.

Neil invests in both new and existing technology businesses. Areas of special interest include Internet and new media, software, consumer services, and network infrastructure. He is currently a board member of DECA, Eons, Highwinds Network Group, Visible Measures, ViTrue, and ScanScout. He is a board observer for Brightcove, rPath and Qumas and is actively involved with BlackDuck, ITA Software and Maven.

Neil joined General Catalyst Partners from Time Warner where he was most recently managing director, technology for Time Warner Investments, formerly AOL Time Warner Ventures. During his four years at Time Warner, he worked closely with various operating groups including AOL, HBO, Time, Inc., Time Warner Cable, Turner and Warner Bros. to identify investment opportunities. Neil sourced, led and was actively involved with the boards of several of the companies within the Time Warner Investments portfolio including Arroyo Video Solutions (Cisco), BigBand Networks, Entropic, Goldpocket Interactive (Tandberg), N2Broadband (Tandberg), and Waterfront Media. he holds a B.A. in economics from University of California, Santa Barbara, and an M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School.
